The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist Wedding
Established in the late 1700s, The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist is a popular wedding venue for a traditional, Catholic wedding. With architecture spanning centuries and traditions just as old, it creates the most stunning atmosphere for weddings. Being such an old and popular venue, there are many rules and regulations to follow for music, liturgy, and yes, photography! Shooting at The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist has quickly become a favorite spot of mine to capture love and sacred traditions. Shooting at this venue has displayed all ranges of my photography skills, working under tight guidelines.
Now onto the people that make me love what I do—
Brooke & Joey shared their first look as Brooke waltzed down the aisle with cascading florals held close. Traditions followed including traditional mass, prayer, and communion as a couple. Their union was a display of the Lord’s blessings on earth. Following the ceremony, the Spanish moss draped the Savannah Oaks, creating a whimsical background for portraits.
After the ceremony, the celebration moved to the 419-room JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District in the heart of Savannah’s Entertainment District. A brand new, riverfront venue provided the perfect backdrop for Brooke & Joey’s day. The Savannah Plant Riverside District had restored pieces from the 18th century incorporated into the venue, including glass chandeliers hanging above the room. Brooke did a quick change into a tea-length dress and heels for dancing and cake cutting. Her stunning pearl ring cluster is from her grandmother. Brooke & Joey opted for a beachy, tropical theme to match their love for the beach.
A little background on the new Hatala’s. As frequent beach-goers and Brooke being a Savannah native, they live very close to Tybee Island. Tybee Island is where Joey proposed to Brooke. After their wedding, they celebrated with a Hawaiian honeymoon.
