Coastal Dataw Island Wedding | Marilyn & Lamar
I loved photographing Marilyn and Lamar’s beautiful coastal Dataw Island wedding! Their big day at the Dataw Island Club took place on a perfect spring Saturday. The ceremony was under a big oak tree on the golf course, and it was so touching to hear them exchange their vows. After the ceremony, guests moved inside to the reception room. The evening was filled with delicious food, heartfelt toasts, and lots of dancing. It was a wonderful day full of unforgettable moments!
The Couple’s Love Story
Marilyn and Lamar’s love story began thanks to their friends, Emily and Brannon, who were both in the wedding party! One sunny afternoon, while strolling through Piedmont Park with their beloved pup, Otis, Lamar got down on one knee and proposed. Walking Otis has always been one of their favorite pastimes, so it made the moment even more heartfelt for them. As they planned their wedding, Marilyn and Lamar were most excited about having all their loved ones in one place. They dreamed of a day filled with laughter, love, and joy… and they got just that!
Their Ceremony on Dataw Island
Marilyn got ready with all of her bridesmaids by her side. She wore a timeless strapless Paloma Blanca gown and an heirloom necklace from her great-great-great grandmother. After her mom helped her into her gown, Marilyn had a heartwarming reveal with her bridesmaids. They looked stunning in blue and white floral dresses, each in a unique style that captured the coastal vibe. Marilyn then shared an emotional first look with her dad, followed by her first look with Lamar. Both moments were incredibly special to witness!
The wedding ceremony took place outdoors, overlooking the breathtaking vistas of Jenkins Creek. Under a live oak draped in Spanish Moss, Marilyn and Lamar exchanged vows in front of two hundred guests. They sealed their vows with a kiss and then set off hand in hand back down the aisle as newlyweds!
Their Timeless Dataw Island Club Wedding Reception
After the ceremony, guests found their table numbers on hand-painted oyster shells before heading into the Carolina Ballroom for the reception.
Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows offered beautiful views of the Lowcountry marsh outside. The tables were decorated with blue and white floral arrangements of hydrangeas and roses, adding to the classic coastal feel of the day.
After a delicious dinner, the couple and their guests enjoyed wedding cake and assorted desserts. Then, Marilyn and Lamar danced the night away with their loved ones as they celebrated their new life as husband and wife!
