Jekyll Island Photographer’s Guide to Engagement Photos
As a Jekyll Island photographer, I love capturing couples on this gorgeous island! There’s something so wonderful about the salty sea breeze and the beautiful Spanish moss draping from the ancient oak trees throughout the island. From exploring Driftwood Beach’s unique landscape to admiring the historic charm of the Jekyll Island Club, you can’t go wrong with a Jekyll Island engagement session.

Throughout, you’ll see photos from Kristen and Hunter’s Jekyll Island Club and Driftwood Beach engagement session. I can’t wait for their winter wedding at Fall Line Station in Macon, Georgia!
Choosing the right location for your Jekyll Island engagement photos is easy with the amazing options you have to choose from! Each spot on the island offers something special, from lush forests and quiet marshlands to breathtaking beaches. Whether you love dramatic landscapes or peaceful oak trees covered in moss, Jekyll Island truly has it all.
Here are five of my favorite Jekyll Island engagement photo locations for you to consider!
The Jekyll Island Club is a perfect spot for engagement photos! My favorite parts about it are its historic charm and elegant surroundings. The well-manicured grounds, complete with gardens and stately architecture, provide a phenomenal backdrop. I also love that it’s nestled near the water with pretty views and a nice sea breeze. The nearby dock adds a touch of romance and timeless beauty, too.
Located within the Jekyll Island Club is Crane Cottage. It offers a truly unique and elegant setting for engagement photos! I love the grand Italian Renaissance-style architecture and surrounding grounds. The formal Sunken Garden, with its meticulously manicured terraces, provides a sophisticated backdrop while the Courtyard and Reflecting Pool Lawn add a touch of romance and tranquility. Crane Cottage offers a one-of-a-kind setting you won’t find anywhere else on the island.
Driftwood Beach is an iconic spot for engagement photos on Jekyll Island. With its striking bleached trees scattered along the shoreline, it offers a unique and dramatic backdrop. This quintessential Jekyll Island location perfectly captures the island’s beauty. One of my favorite parts about Driftwood Beach is how the contrast between the driftwood and the sandy beach makes for great photos.
Another fantastic choice for engagement photos is Corsair Beach, which offers another serene beach setting. The gentle hills and tall grass create a natural look that’s perfect for romantic beach engagement photos. I like that this beach also comes with practical amenities like bathrooms and showers, making it easy to rinse off sandy feet after our session.
The Jekyll Island Historical District is rich in history and character. We can stroll along the wide, tree-lined paths. With lots of benches and fountains—and, of course, Spanish moss—it’s the epitome of Southern elegance. The district’s historic buildings, including the famous Jekyll Island Clubhouse, make for a stunning backdrop. Another cool part of the Historic District? The horse-drawn carriages that make it feel like you’ve stepped back in time! It all can’t be beaten!
You can’t go wrong with Jekyll Island any time of the year, that’s for sure!
In the summer, the weather can be quite warm, so scheduling your photos closer to sunset is a great idea to avoid the heat and capture the beautiful golden light.
Spring and fall offer mild temperatures and incredible natural scenery, making them perfect for outdoor sessions.
While Jekyll Island never gets too cold, you might want a light sweater for a cozy winter engagement shoot.
No matter which season you choose, I’m here to capture your engagement photos with the best light and setting as your go-to Jekyll Island photographer!
