Classic Southern Wedding at The Corry House | Abbie & TJ
Abbie and TJ’s wedding at The Corry House was full of Southern charm, timeless details, and so much emotion. They rented the historic estate for the whole weekend, making it even more special. From their heartfelt first look to their joyful reception under the tent, every moment felt meaningful and true to them. Let’s take a look at their beautiful celebration!
Their Love Story
Abbie and TJ first met in high school in 2016. She was a freshman, and he was the junior leading the football student section. So, naturally, she had a huge crush. They stayed “just friends” for a few months until TJ officially asked her out in early 2017. Over the years, their relationship grew through their shared love of lake days, movie nights, and playing with their yellow lab, Finn.
TJ proposed in their friend’s field at Shady Dale Farms, completely surprising Abbie. He told her they needed to grab some golf clubs, but when they arrived, a blanket and flowers were waiting at sunset. It was the perfect setup for him to get down on one knee. After she said yes, all their family and friends were just down the road, ready to celebrate.
More than anything, Abbie told me she was most excited for the moment she would walk down the aisle and see TJ waiting for her. I loved getting to know them both and hearing more about their story while photographing their fall engagement session at Lake Oconee’s Great Waters Golf Course!
The Corry House Wedding Ceremony
One of my favorite details to capture was Abbie and TJ’s stunning invitation suite. The design set the tone for their classically elegant celebration, with a watercolor illustration of The Corry House featured on the envelope liner. More custom artwork appeared throughout the day, from their pretty wedding crest to a personalized prosecco bottle to a portrait of Finn on their cocktail napkins. They were all such thoughtful touches!
Abbie got ready with her six bridesmaids in the charming white house on the property. She carried her great-grandmother’s locket, a sentimental nod to her family history. When it was time to get dressed, her mom helped her into a gorgeous strapless wedding gown. The dress was complete with an oversized bow detail in the back for a playful, modern touch. She kept her hair down in soft curls which perfectly complemented her effortlessly elegant look. Meanwhile, TJ looked sharp in a classic black tuxedo, paired with a feather bow tie for a hint of personality.
Before the ceremony, they shared a sweet first look under the pine trees before heading to the nearby field, where the horses provided a picturesque backdrop for their portraits.
Their outdoor ceremony took place under clear blue skies, with the towering pines framing the moment beautifully. As Abbie walked down the aisle, TJ’s emotional reaction was one of the most heartfelt moments of the day. With their friends and family seated on wooden benches around them, they exchanged vows in a setting that felt both intimate and timeless.
The Corry House Wedding Reception
It’s no surprise that their reception was filled with thoughtful details that tied the entire celebration together. Gold chargers, bud vases overflowing with textured white and light blue florals, and a palette of champagne, gold, greenery, and soft blue created an inviting atmosphere.
After the ceremony, guests made their way into the barn for a delicious dinner, followed by a cupcake tower in place of a traditional cake. Later in the evening, everyone moved outside to dance under the tent, which glowed with romantic string lights. As the party heated up, Abbie and TJ surprised their guests with light-up foam sticks. They were a fun touch that kept the dance floor packed!
One of the most unique elements of the night was a live painter who created custom watercolor portraits of guests. It was such a special keepsake and a detail that made the night even more memorable.
From start to finish, Abbie and TJ’s wedding was a joy to photograph!
