Chic Hotel Clermont Engagement Photos
As an Atlanta photographer, I love when couples choose a spot for engagement photos that feels stylish, personal, and a little unexpected. Hotel Clermont is one of those locations that checks all the boxes. With rooftop views, chic interiors, and plenty of character, it’s the perfect backdrop for Atlanta engagement photos. Michah and Matthew’s session here was full of personality, celebration, and little nods to their love story, which made it extra special.
Here’s everything you need to know when planning for your Hotel Clermont engagement photos!

Before we dive into planning tips for a Hotel Clermont engagement session, let’s start with how I ended up there with Micah and Matthew.
Michah and Matthew have the sweetest history together. They started dating in September 2022, and in April 2024, Matthew surprised Michah with a proposal at the Dogwood Music and Arts Festival in Piedmont Park. Afterward, they celebrated with a teary-eyed dinner at Tiny Lou’s, the restaurant tucked into the basement of Hotel Clermont. Coming back here for their engagement photos was such a meaningful choice.

What I love about Hotel Clermont is that you don’t have to leave the property to get tons of variety in your photos. Every corner offers something different, from playful rooftop shots to moody, romantic vibes indoors.
We started Michah and Matthew’s session on the rooftop, which is one of the most iconic spots at Hotel Clermont. The turf, city views, and cozy seating areas create such a fun, relaxed atmosphere. It’s perfect for couples who want those cool skyline shots without the typical crowded city setting.

Since this was the spot where they celebrated their engagement night, Tiny Lou’s was a must. The French-inspired décor, velvet booths, and dim lighting set the mood, and I loved how they ordered martinis to make it feel like a real date night.

The hotel’s iconic letterboard makes for such a fun and personal photo spot. Michah and Matthew updated it with their own message, which was a creative and memorable way to mark their session.

Yes, there’s a clawfoot bathtub with a city view, and yes, it’s just as dreamy as it sounds. It’s one of the quirkiest, most unique features of Hotel Clermont, and it makes for playful, stylish photos that feel totally one-of-a-kind.

Michah and Matthew went above and beyond to make their engagement session reflect their personalities. They brought champagne and cake, which added a fun, celebratory element to the shoot. From their chic fashion choices to the way they wove in their love of cocktails and spending time with each other, every detail felt intentional. Sessions like this are my favorite to photograph because they tell the couple’s story in such an authentic way.

One of the best things about Hotel Clermont is that most of the spaces are indoors. That makes it a great option year-round, no matter the weather. If it’s a rainy day, we can cozy up in Tiny Lou’s. If it’s a chilly winter evening, the indoor spots are all gorgeous. And if the weather is perfect, the rooftop views make it easy to head outdoors too.
For the best light, I typically recommend starting a session in the late afternoon. That way, we can catch the warm golden light on the rooftop, then move indoors as the evening sets in. It gives you a mix of airy, glowing photos outside and moody, romantic photos inside.

Outfits make a huge difference in your photos, and Hotel Clermont is one of those places where you can lean into a bit of style and drama.

Flowy dresses photograph beautifully, especially with rooftop breezes. If you want to go bold, jewel tones like emerald or burgundy pop against the city skyline. For indoor shots, sleek cocktail dresses or jumpsuits look amazing against the chic interiors. I recommend bringing a pair of heels for some photos, but don’t forget flats for walking between locations.

A tailored button-down with slacks or dark jeans always works well. If you want to dress it up, add a blazer for a polished look, then take it off for something more casual. Earth tones, navy, or black all photograph beautifully here.
Bring two outfits if you want variety. I recommend one dressier and one more relaxed.
Avoid neon or overly bright colors, which can reflect onto your skin in photos.
Steam or iron your outfits ahead of time. It really makes a difference!
Most importantly, choose pieces you feel confident and comfortable in.

Do we need permission to take photos at Hotel Clermont?
Yes, Hotel Clermont requires advance permission for photo sessions. I’ll help coordinate this with the hotel so everything runs smoothly.
Can we order food or drinks during our session?
Absolutely! In fact, I encourage it. Grabbing cocktails at Tiny Lou’s or popping champagne on the rooftop makes your photos feel more natural and fun.
Is parking available on-site?
Yes, Hotel Clermont has valet parking, and there are paid lots and street parking options nearby.
What if it rains on the day of our session?
No worries! Hotel Clermont is one of the best rain-proof options in Atlanta since most of the spaces are indoors. We’ll still get a full variety of photos.
Can we bring props or personal touches?
Definitely. Champagne, cake, flowers, and more can add a personal layer to your photos. Micah and Matthew’s session felt extra special because of these types of thoughtful details.
